Invenio Medical Inc. is proud to bring one of the world’s first rapid point-of-care lateral flow immunoassays for the diagnosis of coronavirus infection. The new rapid IgM-IgG combined antibody test for COVID-19 is used to qualitatively detect IgG and IgM antibodies of the novel coronavirus in human serum, plasma or whole blood in vitro. These proteins indicate that a person’s immune system has responded to infection with the COVID-19 virus. It is one of the world’s first rapid tests for coronavirus utilizing this advanced technology.
COVID-19 IgM IgG Test Kit
Recent studies suggest that a high percentage of patients are asymptomatic, showing no signs or symptoms of the virus, which makes screening patients vitally important. This rapid test can be used for screening of carriers of the virus that are symptomatic or asymptomatic. By using biomarkers from the body’s immune response to COVID-19, rather than looking for the virus itself, the test can help determine if a person has been infected with COVID-19 even after the virus is no longer present. This information helps experts to better understand how the virus spreads through populations and develop strategies to prevent and slow the epidemic. This test can be especially useful when a patient presents to the Emergency Department or Physician’s office with symptoms that can easily be ruled-out at as COVID-19 at the time of visit.
This new rapid IgM-IgG combined antibody test for COVID-19 has been used widely by the Chinese Centre for Disease Control and Prevention during the initial outbreak in Wuhan China, allowing for prompt response and initiating appropriate quarantine/isolation practices. The single-use qualitative test detects both early and late marker IgG/IgM antibodies in human finger-prick blood samples.
Significance of Testing IgG/IgM in Blood/Serum/Plasma
- IgM is an antibody produced in the beginning of infection, which indicates an early stage of the disease
- IgG is produced after a period of infection, which indicates the infection is ongoing or was infected.
- Combination of IgG/IgM indicates the infection is ongoing
How to use the COVID-19 IgM IgG test kit
- Wipe desired finger-tip with alcohol prep pad and allow to air dry.
- Utilize lancet to prick edge of finger-tip in order to produce droplet of blood.
- Using the provided pipette, allow 10-20ul blood to draw up into tube (serum, full blood or plasma), add into the sample well on the test card
- Add 2 drops of sample buffer into the well.
- Wait for 15min, determine the result according to the kit instruction.
Results
A total of three detection lines are possible. The control (C) line appears when the sample flows through the cassette.
Negative Result
If only the quality control (C) line appears, then no novel coronavirus antibody has been detected and the result is negative. If the control line doesn’t appear, the test has been unsuccessful and needs to be repeated.
Positive Result, M only
If both the quality control line (C) and the detection line M appears, then the novel coronavirus IgM antibody has been detected and the result is positive for the IgM antibody.
Positive Result, G only
If both the quality control line (C) and the detection line G appears, then the novel coronavirus IgG antibody has been detected and the result is positive for the IgG antibody.
Positive Result, G and M
If the quality control line (C) and both detection lines G and M appear, then the novel coronavirus IgG and IgM antibodies have been detected and the result is positive for both the IgG and IgM antibodies.
